Isabel Harris has just received a new delivery of Lucie Kaas Dolls from Denmark. Our range now includes some exciting new additions! New Ziggy and Elton are joined by Pablo Picasso and firm favourites, Audrey, Karl and Coco. Each doll is hand painted and represents a painstaking attention to detail and design.
Here is some background to the new additions to this highly sought after and collectable range.
Design collective Lucie Kaas has a penchant for understated design that draws its influence from multiple sources, and has partnered with character design specialists Becky Kemp at Sketch Inc to create this collection of Kokeshi dolls. Based on a traditional style of Japanese doll, the collection depicts a number of pop culture icons and symbols. The dolls represent icons from the world of fashion, music and art.
New release Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie was a pioneer, not only in terms of his music, but also the characters he created and inhabited. One of his most unforgettable personas, Ziggy Stardust, came to life in the early 1970s and was immortalised in this extraordinary outfit by fashion designer, Kansai Yamamoto. David Bowie’s legacy of fearless innovation continues to inspire and assure generation after generation to embrace individuality and defy the status quo.
New releases Elton. As a music legend, fashion icon, and a great source of inspiration, he is a role model across generations. Elton John has expressed himself through many pop culture hits and through several flamboyant outfits. These flamboyant outfits included colours, sequins, feather boas, capes, hats and glasses which have surprised fans time after time. In collaboration with Elton John, these outfits have been interpreted, forming the two look-a-like kokeshis.
Outfit One, the white feather-covered outfit worn at a PR photoshoot in his home in 1974, Outfit Two a pink-coloured outfit during ‘The Muppet Show’ in 1977.
