Kester Black Nail Polishes are water permeable!

Kester Black Nail Polishes are water permeable!

Why wear water permeable polish?

Wearing water permeable nail polish can help to improve the health of your nails and the quality of your manicure. This improved formulation allows nails to behave naturally and grow without the restrictions of non-breathable products.

How is it tested?

A nail polish film sample is placed inside a diffusion chamber which separates the top half of the chamber from the bottom (as seen in figure 1.0). Oxygen then flows into the top half of the chamber and an oxygen-free carrier gas (i.e. nitrogen) flows into the bottom on the other side of the film. Once the oxygen permeates the nail polish film, we know the polish is breathable. The experiment is carried out according to ASTM D 3985 and ISO 15105-2 standards. These exacting standards have far greater technical relevance than the coffee filter paper test, which is a highly inaccurate representation of the chemical reaction.

Information & accreditations

Water permeable formulation is a major improvement on any existing breathable nail polish products already on the market. Once applied to nails, the water permeable formula allows water penetration on a molecular level.

The new water permeable base has in no way compromised our professional standards, ethics and company values.

The high shine, chip-resistant nail polish is proudly made in Australia, and is 10-Free™, meaning it's free from the 10 nastiest chemicals found in standard polishes, including toluene, DBP (also known as phthalates), formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin or camphor.

All Kester Black nail polish comes with Choose Cruelty Free (CCF), Cruelty Free International and Vegan Society certifications. The water permeable colours will be marked with the water permeable logo.

Are all Kester Black polishes now made with the new base?

The entire colour range is water permeable, with the exception of our glitter polishes. This is because the formulation of the glitter polishes needs to be a lot thicker to ensure the biodegradable glitter particles remain suspended in the polish.

What is the difference between water permeable and breathable?

There is no difference! Essentially, if a nail polish is breathable, it's water permeable too, so water molecules are able to penetrate through its formula.

What is the durability of water permeable nail polish?

Kester Black water permeable nail polish has the same durability as all original Kester Black colours. In fact, using water permeable nail polish can help to improve the health of your nails and the quality of your manicure. The permeable base allows nails to behave naturally and grow without the restrictions of non-breathable bases.

How do I remove it?

Water permeable nail polish is removed in the same way as all original Kester Black nail polishes. Our Non-Acetone remover, Water Based remover or any generic nail polish remover product will effectively remove the polish.

Is the water permeable nail polish more or less toxic than non breathable polish?

Breathable, water permeable nail polish is no more or less chemically enhanced than any other Kester Black nail polish product.

Is water permeable nail polish water soluble?

No. Kester Black water permeable nail polishes are not able to be dissolved by/in water.
